For an adult beginner, we recommend the Honda CRF250F or the Kawasaki KLX230R. Both offer full-size wheels (21″ front / 18″ rear) and enough power to climb hills, but use air-cooled engines with smooth power delivery that won’t overwhelm a new rider. They also feature electric start and manageable seat heights.
A standard competition dirt bike (like a KX450) is difficult to make street legal. However, we sell factory-street-legal “Dual Sport” models like the Honda CRF300L and Kawasaki KLX300. These come from the factory with a VIN that allows for immediate road registration, along with required lights, turn signals, and mirrors.
